In 2024, we launched a genetically engineered probiotic drink mix, Sugar-to-Fiber, that creates fiber from the food you eat. This revolutionary product helps to improve the diversity of gut bacteria and overall gut health.

With a full line of genetically engineered probiotics in development, our team is growing. We’re looking for people as excited as we are to build this new category of consumer products. ZBiotics is headquartered in San Francisco, and backed by venture investors including Y Combinator, Khosla Ventures, and Social+Capital, among others.

About the Role
We're seeking a Loyalty and Lifecycle Marketing Manager to play a key role in our Growth Marketing team, with a specific focus on customer acquisition, retention, and engagement. This role involves hands-on execution of email and SMS marketing campaigns and flows, loyalty initiatives, referral programs, and lifecycle marketing efforts. A core part of this job will be leveraging data to refine segmentation and personalization, and continuously improving campaign performance through testing and innovation.

  • By Month 1: You are fully onboarded and well-versed in our team, culture, and brand.
  • By Month 3: You own the email and SMS marketing calendar, leading all campaigns, flows, and journeys. You collaborate seamlessly with Content Marketing, deliver high-quality communications, analyze performance, and report key insights.
  • By Month 6: You own the full loyalty marketing plan, including seasonal initiatives like the Holiday Gift Pack, regular A/B tests, and driving performance improvements in retention, email, SMS and referral marketing.
  • By Year 1: You have successfully executed the 2025 loyalty marketing plan, achieved most of your personal goals, and are actively shaping the 2026 strategy.

  • You will help achieve ZBiotics' 2025 goal of unlocking product-market fit for "Sugar-to-Fiber" by designing and refining right-time, right-message retention campaigns.

As the Loyalty & Lifecycle Marketing Manager, Your Responsibilities will be to:

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Growth Marketing to develop the annual loyalty marketing strategy and plan
  • Lead the execution of the annual loyalty marketing plan including detailed monthly plans and email/SMS marketing calendars
  • Create and maintain the email flow and SMS journey hierarchy
  • Lead key loyalty marketing initiatives including seasonal loyalty offerings
  • Lead the company referral marketing program
  • Build, manage, and optimize email and SMS campaigns, flows, and journeys
  • Collaborate with the Content Marketing team to create compelling copy and visuals for email and SMS
  • Improve the effectiveness of our email and SMS communications through expanded use of customer segments.
  • Continuously use A/B tests to optimize our campaigns and flows
  • Develop and execute a plan to increase the size of our email and SMS marketing lists
  • Support physical retail and Amazon channels as needed
  • Help to deliver marketing department goals including customer retention and new customer growth
  • Analyze CRM data and report monthly on email/sms campaign, flow, and journey performance
  • Be our company CRM, customer life-cycle, and loyalty thought leader by keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies and best practices
You will leverage your understanding of our brand and your technical expertise in email and SMS marketing to help increase customer loyalty and drive growth for our DTC business.


Experience must-haves:

  • You have demonstrated loyalty marketing experience that includes managing email retention marketing campaigns and flows.
  • You have a strong understanding of CRM programs including Klayvio and Attentive.
  • You would consider yourself to be an emerging thought leader in the area of loyalty and retention marketing.
  • You have a strong understanding of how to analyze performance of CRM programs using tools like Klayvio, Attentive, GA4, and Triple Whale.
  • You are familiar with email marketing and SMS best practices.
  • You are familiar with AI tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, Klaviyo AI, and Attentive AI.

Experience nice-to-haves:

  • You are familiar with referral marketing programs like Friendbuy or Tilpati.
  • You are familiar with referral marketing best practices.
  • You’ve previously worked with DTC/ecommerce brands.

This position may be required to travel to attend occasional ZBioneers or external events.

The base salary for this position is $140,000 / year, and will include additional equity. A presented offer may be higher, depending on qualifications and experience.
